About Aldren.Com

What is going on here at Aldren.Com?

Well, I am using it as a paste board to thrash out my own views and ideas about community development in the United Kingdom.

I am essentially using Aldren.Com as a notebook to get down ideas about community development and then hone and refine those ideas as and when I have time.

I have been involved in working with Communities in the United Kingdom, in one form or another for almost thirty years.

Aldren Mission Statement

• To provide a free online resource for Community Development.
• To define Communities and Communtiy Development.
• To provide a clear definition of the relevant terms in plain English.
• To supply reviews of other Community Development Web Sites.
• To offer tools and strategies for Community Development.
• To show a road map of Community Development in the United Kingdom.
• To provide Community Development Templates, Community Development Strategies and Community Development Action Plans.

Community Development and what it means to me

Well, basically it is summed up in the tagline I have created for every page of this site; "It is your home. You decide." This, is in my opinion, the essential of community development. Home can be taken to mean the accomodation, the neighbourhood, the local environment, the local services, the country.......... you see what I mean? But at every level YOU must make a choice. Any worker in the field of community development and ESPECIALLY working at a local community level, must purely be a facilitator for the decision making of that community.

Plans for the future

:-) I have to grin here because I immediately think of the mutability of man (and woman of course).

I intend to get lots of thoughts, notes, research, links and whatever occurs to me down on the pages of Aldren.Com and then at some point in the future (grin again) organise and order the site to serve as a useful free online resource for anyone else working in, or researching community development in the UK.
